Hate to say it but this is the best dollar per mile load i ever booked. $650 for 178 loaded miles = $3.65/mi and it puts me right home for a long weekend. The wife is confused on how i can get my best rate during a bad downturn. "Thats truckin" was all i came up with for that.

Downside, its also the first time ive actually put out a full set of 8s. So it wasnt the easiest cheese ever but oh well. Teeshirt truckin in dixie beats a lot of other gigs.. Id strap over the tarps but i think @D.Tibbitt might have had a stroke.

Oh this is a good one.
go to precast to pick up boxes to bring to Boulder Canyon (1 lane road, barrier on both sides, etc). There are 4 of us, I happen to be 3rd in line when we get there. We are all assigned step decks. Forkie shows up says we'll have to use the overhead crane, too heavy for the forklift.
whoa, which ones are they?
Those, over there, 10x16x6. But in the precast world they always give you inside dimensions. They weigh 49,000lbs
It's a BIG box. Wow that seems tall. That start hooking up the first. There are bunches of them, I go and get my tape measure. Walk over in the dark and cold and hmmmmmmmmm this is exactly 12 foot top to bottom (always measure BEFORE you get loaded, I've learned that lesson)
YO, THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK!!!!!!!!! (12+3=15 ) Call dispatch. Hmmmmmmmmm yeah lemme call you back.
After a few minutes, he calls back, yeah, come back here and get lowboys.
so we do and get reloaded and drive on up. OMG TIGHT. Of course they leave the new guy (me) with the 53' footer. I mean BARELY around some of these turns. probably less than a finger width between trailer and barrier.
whole rig probably weighed in the 95,000lb range. (the trailers are heavy, stretch RGN, 3 axle) You can see how tight it is, I'm all the way up against the guardrail with the tractor and yet the trailer is JUST inside the yellow line. This wasn't a tight turn. -
Im impressed ^

PoleCrusher and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
If all else fails you can disconnect the suspension line and shut off the service brakes on that axle. That will move your pivot point a few feet forward.D.Tibbitt, FerrissWheel, booley and 2 others Thank this. -
You can also try and give Tri-state trailer a call. They have a decent amount of flatbed gear. Located right next to the Flying J in Hubbard, OH.
Mytee products is in Aurora, OH also.
Between the 3 places you should be able to get what you need.Last edited: Feb 19, 2020
