getting stuck behind on of these guys doing 40 mph on a dry road, while they are not spreading salt or plowing is extremely frustrating. I have NEVER seen a state plow truck actually going the speed limit on dry roads. WHY. are they are told to drive this slow or do the trucks have a really low governed speed (like 40mph in a 55). I could never drive like that. If the roads are dry, I hammer down and do 60 in a 55.
1. WHY are they even on the road if there is nothing to plow. wasting taxpayers dollars.
2. WHY are the driving so slow, they are impeding traffic and wasting my time. I DO NOT get paid by the hour.
their behavior demonstrates why my boss cannot pay by the hour. if he paid by the hour, he would have milk trucks milking it just like these DOT clowns.
does the DOT limit the speed of their own plow trucks

Those trucks might be governed at 55, but if he's doing 40 on a dry road he's milking the clock.PE_T, Rubber duck kw and Doealex Thank this. -

Somebody is unfamiliar with county workers. I believe, snow plows are considered emergency vehicles and have the right of way. Besides, snowplows got a lot of iron hanging off them, I wouldn't go fast either. May I suggest a 6 week drying out period in a facility in Hawaii, where afterward, you can return at full pace.

Because when they aren’t plowing the roads they are doing other things.

DOT operating with NO flashing lights should be held to the same standard the general public is. While I have friends that are in law enforcement one of the points of contention we have is how they abuse their first responder status. Around my home, the plows are actually just regular DOT dump trucks with a plow mounted on the front that is removed later. I think the answer is those lights if they are operating use caution and practice patience. If they are not operating the lights there is no reason to move at a slow creep like that.

It just appeared they were out joy ridding and getting hours on the clock. I was in my car, I passed him.... Had I been in the truck passing is generally not something I do.
