Idling exemption ends, leaves room for Texas-sized enforcement

The big companies might be forced into doing something when the bodies start piling up from the wrecks that are bound to happen from hot and tired drivers.They will do something not because they care for their drivers but because their safety rating went sky-high and the insurance companies are screaming.

 

Can't see accidents increasing because of hot and tired drivers. After all, drivers used to drive longer hours with heavier loads and no a/c, heat, or power steering. And they didn't seem to have the kind of accident rate you see these days.

 

Those were different roads. Older, slower trucks with way less cars getting underfoot. Those old roads were more dangerous than our smooth new superhighways, but the new big roads just brought their own kinds of danger with them.

Maybe they will change the speed limit back to 55mph. Just imagine how much fuel will be saved on those trips across I 10.

 

I dont understand your thinking.There are 5 times the vehicles on the roads today than when I started.If you think no idling laws are not going to have an affect on the alertness or the ability to stay awake late at night keep your head in the sand.In the old days if your a/c broke down you drove till u found a cool place to sleep,usually at the top of a hill,or somewhere with a good breeze.The lawmakers are going to be responsible for more deaths on the roads just a matter of time.

 

The old days are gone (sadly...I agree, but gone none the less).

When all the good drivers start flocking to the companies with APU's...it won't take long for the others to catch on or go out of business.

Anti-idling laws are not going to be the end of trucking...as a matter of fact, it is a means to remain cost effective in a time when every penny is counted.

 

Far longer then any of these marshmallows could ever stand .

 

Isnt a Surprise to many,look at who(what) has been running the show down in Austin Tx.(Tx DPS/DOT)
Simple research shows he has 20+ years as "CHP/DOT"
He was very vocal on the speed limit change as well.

Him and a few of his like minded buds are who's pushing for the 48 State Compliance Order.

 

is it me or is the no idling laws half assed backwards ok i think the no idle laws are good but the idiots never thought that not every truck has an (apu) in it i guess the goverment has there heads so far up there ##### they can't see 1 second in front of em oh and can't forget the green freaks eathier if they had there way the trucks would be eletric lol id'e love to see that one turn on the ac going up a hill and your battery dies lol. sorry eletric and hybrids are a waste of money to me
