Hello everyone, new here. I noticed this switch on my dash and can’t seem to find what it’s for. I don’t want to flick it without knowing what it does, but someone here might know! I’m not sure if posted in correct place but here it is.

    Thank you in advance!

it's an add on switch by the former owner or driver.

you'll have to flip it and tell us.

i never drove a truck in my 48 years with a hardware store switch like that on the dash, as the factory switches are toggle or rockers and always much better looking than that when mounted.

Looks like someone broke the toggle off. Maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it.

Take the dash plate off and see where the wires go.
It may be disconnected, or it may run to some Shade Tree Chicken Lights tree hat no longer exist.

Were it factory, it would most likely have a plate describing its use mounted above/below.

Or.. get to highway speed, and flip it. Make sure the seat belt is on.

Thanks for your reply. However, I flip it and I can’t observe anything happening. Also, I’ve seen a few photos of this same switch on other trucks like this one with a name above it but I can’t zoom in enough to see. I guess I’ll never know..

I like that idea! I do see wires underneath it, looks like it leads somewhere under panel. I’m not sure. I’ll have to dig in some other time.

what ever it operated, maybe the wire is broken, or the device is broken, maybe the switch is broken..

can't help you no more than that.

i still believe it's an add on switch, that the former owner or driver installed in the dash, cuz there was space to do it.

doesn't seem to look like a "factory installed" switch to me.

    oh well (shrugs)

could be the ejection seat switch, the oil spray on the highway switch, the Tommy guns outta the park lights, the coke and rum dispenser out of the glove box, or my all time favorite, the passenger seat blow up doll to use the commuter lane!

Yeah, oh well. I just noticed it and wanted to see if any of the fine folks on here might know what it did/does. I appreciate the responses!

Could be an old brake light switch... no way to know without a Forensics team.
