Yes, they actually teach you in orientation not to use the load board.

Why are you putting up easily researched info on the internet that will be here for ever? Not smart at all. That’s a great way to lose your gig.

Yeah I did a lane search just to see who his agent was even though I already thought I knew. He better have the best customer service ever or some other bco is going to weasel their way in.

Not likely. I got this because I did work above and beyond for several months with no complaints and they know they can rely on me. They arent the kind of agency that pulls someone off a route to give it to someone else. They called ME and asked ME if I wanted it. I didnt "worm my way into it"...

The Wisconsin Coke part of it they just gave to me for a couple of months because their regular is going to be on vacation. When she comes back, she gets it back (I ran it last year for several weeks when she went on vacation then as well). But we have another thing we are working on. Just need to find a way to get to the pick-up regularly.

That’s exactly why Landstar pushes relationships with agents over the load board. Agents don’t want to use load board either. I guarantee you LS gives agents on time ratings.

What did you do that was so above and beyond?

    Picked up on time?
    Delivered on time?
    Didn't crash into anything?
Helped the shipper or receiver in some small way?

These things are expected, not extras.

You are self diluted if you think there is any kind of loyalty here.

I know that you’re question wasn’t meant for me. Relationships can be finicky things . I had one agent when I worked at LS, tell me she could tell when someone was an ### or not, based on there personality and how they answered the phone on first call. There were other things that help with relationships like sincerity over the phone. Also according to agents that i spoke with, the things that you listed were actually rarer then they liked.

    Yea like money.

I have a handful of agents I like to deal with for all my trucks.

I won't get married to any of them. Because when they stub their toe, it's just the way it goes.

Not being a little diversified is setting yourself up to hate life in my opinion.

There is good freight on the board as well.

I've seen some agents have excellent freight that lasts for awhile, then they lose it. Simply because someone undercuts it.

I'd say about 60% of our stuff never hits the board.

But 95% of the time someone calls and offers me something, it's garbage.

I know my safety rank and delivery record, I can steal anyone's loads if I want to.

Any good freight all someone has to do is post it, it's gone in seconds.

Well, just an example I was on a load for them going to Cleveland. Got there and the receiver rejected the load (because they didnt have the proper equipment to unload it) so the agency took me off my return load. They eventually got the receiver to take the load, and now Im in Cleveland on a friday with no load and Im scheduled to pick up on Sat so I deadhead home to make the pick-up. Another is a load to south Florida that I ended up sitting and waiting for a week for because the load wasnt ready on time. They ended up giving me $2500 for delay time on it, but I never asked and never complained. Several occasions I took a last minute load for them when they knew I wanted to sit at home for a weekend.

    And never complained.

So yeah, I know what "customer service" is and frankly Im offended by your comment.

And the key here is, if I am at home with no load scheduled, they call ME and ask ME if I want it before they post it.
