OHHH I have another friend that's a truck boss at bunning. I think he used to be at enfield. Are they keeping you busy in ND? I heard some companies came in and cut the rates big time.. One story I heard was some company ,I can't remember like Schneider came in and was paying their drivers by the mile and no hourly pay.. Wells it's only a few inches on the map.. Don't worry it's good paved roads all the way.. I talked to one company that hauls water off, you need your own trailer, when you worked it wasn't worth your time to even drive out to the site and they couldn't figure out why they couldn't keep trucks.
-
Yea it sucks up there anymore. I've spent more time on the road this year than in the patch and I'm thinking of taking everything back to Rock Springs.

I've heard horror stories about rent, getting stuff fixed on your trucks, I heard like a guy took in a flat. Tire guy said see you in a couple of weeks. And everybody sees the big dollars, and is cutting each others throats to get what work there is.. Frac sand is a good example. Soon the trucker will be paying the frac company the privilege of hauling that sand. Alot of money made and now alot going to Bankrupcy court.when somebody charges 140-150 an hour one had best realize that there is a reason for it. But noooo lets do it for 90.
-
Yea when they started cutting the rate I found other #### for my trucks to do. I had an outfit that wanted me to haul sand, sit on loc for days at a time for 550 dollars a load max standby I told them to kiss my ###.

My question is what kind of binders? the binders for 1/2" chain will break before the 1/2" grade 80/100 chain. Look at the ratings. Dont add up that the chain broke before the binders ..unless it was all chinese cheap stuff.

I will try to post some figures monday evening on chain/binder pricing from g43 to g100. I can tell you that the Domestic binders 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" there is little to no wiggle room. making 15 percent is a good margin at best on these. Import ratchet binders, made in China....now thats a different animal. I can buy 3/8" for 17.50 and 1/2" for 22.50 at cost. You see the pricing it sells for at your local dealer/truck stop, they buy the same as i do. Margins of 70 percent or better.
We have done pull testing on the Chinese chain/binders and it breaks all over the spectrum, some times above the rating, sometimes below...no consistency. Domestic breaks above and thats what we push. If we sell Chinese, I advise the customer and its noted on the receipt as such.
Just an FYI, grade 80 has been phased out for the most part..especially with what is normally used on a truck. Grade 100 is the norm and no price difference, just the new standard for lifting chain.
Any special request, shoot me a PM and I will try to help. -
Grade100 1/2 chain is rated 15,000 lbs. 1/2 binders I have found two different ratings, 12,000 and 15,000. Those are crosbys . Now pewag has a higher chain rating and binders for something like 16,000. They were something like grade120. I always try to use the best chain and binders . Crosby makes crane rigging, head ache balls and are one of the best made. The chain , one that I use is cambell chain. Again all U.S. made, and I've never have broken a chain or binder.all my chain mfg are a member of the National chain mfg association. Last time I looked there was only about 5 in the association. But they have very strict quality control. Now for Chinese products.. If you can find a reliable company in China.. They do make some very good products.. Look at double coin tires. Then there is the crooked company where that chain is about grade 5. And will break if you look at it wrong. Now grade 80 is 12,000 lbs on a straight pull at 1/2 ".

Pewag is cool stuff, the square links and blue chain, we never sold alot of that and I have never seen a binder rated at g-120 ratings(seen and out there 2 different things), actually Pewag is not considered Domestic. Crosby does alot more than crane rigging, they have the chain from g43 up. Another Chain MFG to consider is Peerless, all domestic. Campbell is right in there too
Import binders I quote for 3/8" at 5400lbs and 6600lbs WLL and on 1/2" its 13000 lbs and 15000lbs WLL.
