heard many truckers : 10 hours too long
11 hours driving, it is good and enough
14 hours working, it is good and enough,
Could we try to delete this regulation: 10 consecutive hours off duty,
every driver will plan his best schedule, this will be more flexible for solo.
For team , maybe only 6 or 8 consecutive hours off duty, is enough
10 hours too long

I don't get you drivers, there is a reason why it is there and you need to learn why.
I would like to go back to the old flexible hos, 10 hours drive time.12 ga, Studebaker Hawk, brian991219 and 10 others Thank this. -
If you sleep 8 hours that only leaves 2 hours to eat dinner then something in the morning. Plus getting a shower. A shower at truck stop is like 1 hour. So you really only have 1 hour to eat dinner and breakfast and relaxing. We need more then 10 off.

the reason they are there, is because companies will push drivers to the max of allowable hrs.
yes, they shouldn't and yes, you should say no. BUT, there are too many rookies or whatever that fear for their jobs and will do whatever.Trucker61016, peterd, Gumboslef9384 and 9 others Thank this. -

Who the hell can sleep for 8 hours? I haven't slept 8 hours straight since I had the flu the last time, about 10 years ago.

I have no problem with a mandatory 10 hrs. Hopefully you get adequate sleep 10 hrs. I think the HOS regs are good as is. Plenty of hrs to make money, plenty of hours to get rest.

For some of us 10 hours is not too long at all. We would have to stop driving to get sleeper berth and lie there awake waiting for the timer to elapse before rolling some more. The trip is not over until you arrive at the customer.
If I was to go out today and run a truck, I will sleep 5 or 6 hours every night as I do now, and the rest of the time twiddle my thumbs waiting for the log hours to stop the sleeper legally and drive another 10 hours. I will not be sleeping that whole time. As I get older I don't need that much sleep time at all. When I was 21, 9 hours sleep was awesome. But im past 50 and am awake with coffee on the desk this morning after having 6 hours of sleep exactly. Some nights only 5 and im ready to roll.
But I would have to wait two or three hours to go by until it's time to legally start driving. That is a waste. Which is why I preferred the old HOS dating to 1962.joshuapowell61, Mooseontheloose, Coffey and 2 others Thank this. -
