10 years OTR and now local.

Man what a change in my life for the better. I was a regional company driver for 3 - 4 years driving the western 11 then went to a O/O gig for 6 years running I-5. It was a good experience but man was I ready for a change. 2023 almost bankrupted me and 24 wasn't much better. I made 32k profit for 2023 and drove 98k miles the 2024 I was on track to land around 45k. Abismal numbers for a O/O and not sustainable. It took me about 2 months to find a local position I wanted. Now I am basically a shuttle driver making a 430 mile round trip 4 days a week. I have a very flexible schedule and great benefits. I also make 50k a year only working 40 - 45 hours a week. I have been doing it for 11 months now and love it. I now have my life back and am home nightly. Best move I ever made.

 

2 years refrigerated the rest pulling a curtain side.

 

Sorry I make it a point to not put my current employer on these to avoid trolls. I can tell you they are a national company but a small one. I haul construction finish materials.

 

Maybe eventually I will get onto a large company like OD but I'm happy where I'm at. It meets all my current requirements and I live very comfortably with the wage I make.
