1099 is the "easy way to get started in the world of trucking". Government regs have made it a very costly and difficult process to have actually employees, not to mention a host of other liabilities that actual employees bring to the game. Plus, lots of the fly-by-night companies doing 1099 could never be trusted to deposit withheld payroll taxes weekly, and they'd disappear and stop honoring check payments quicker then they will otherwise.
skinnytrucker79, jsnell and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
i work for 1099 company you just have to take out 300 a week from the check. at the end of the year you wont have problem or pay your taxes every quater. get a good accounter and right everything you can on your taxes

And the day credit deduction is able to be claimed also I was told. I am still on the fence. But the carrier I am on W2 with does not even offer health options.

Yeah I know all bout how to do it. Was O/O several yrs. Just every add on Craigslist that sounds good is 1099. If I'm a company driver to much BS to keep up with all the little things. You don't have major write offs like fuel and payment.

Well maybe I would go 1099 if I were paid 35% of the load. Or .75 cents per mile being uncle same wants 25% off the cut before anything else.

A lot of guys around Memphis pay 50% after fuel for someone to drive their trucks as a fleet driver, no benefits, taxes paid or anything

The gross sounds great until tax time. This is what they count on.

Set up an LLC, $100 and be done with it, and save a percentage every week to give to Uncle Sugar. There is a snow flake somewhere in need of assistance in his mother's basement. Or those annoying baby mama's.

So 1099 is not a terrible way to go, if you know how to play the game? Looking at a job out of TX, 1099, claim $1600-2000 / week at 30%. Thoughts?
