No down side only positive outcome. More power and better mpg is the norm.

The only thing if your picky is the bigger chargers are a little bit slower to spool off the bottom. You just have to drive the engine a little bit higher in the power band. Contrary to many peoples beliefs you still get better mpg because the engine breathes soooooo much better. You dont need to progressive shift for better mpg. Keep all your hard pulling duties above 1500 rpm. Dont lug it.

Having said that the 171702 is perty darn responsive. It's only the bigger chargers with the big A/R housings that you lose a bit down low.

Temps are cooler then they were when engine was stock. They come from the factory with really retarded injection timing to meet EPA regs.

    DetroitDudeBro and Willmann30 Thank this.

A mild tune with an extra 75-100 hp and the right turbo you'll be fine. These people that warn you not to do it are probably the same people that say your drivetrain wont handle the extra torque. Compleat nonsense if drivin with some common sense.

I've got a tune in a 12.7 with ceramic manifold and the BW 702 turbo. My coolant temps do run higher then before, but certainly not out of control.

I'm perty sure you dont need to go to a dealer with your 20 year old 12.7.

Well I wouldn't go to the dealer unless it was new and under warranty. If it's not then find a good performance shop to work on your engine.
