That and the dark stuff in the coolant tank. Tank was clean. First place I went was head gasket with the temp fluctuating.

I do not know about all that but if you have a coolant transmission oil heat exchanger watch that.
Rideandrepair, Elroythekid and AModelCat Thank this. -
Oil in my coolant from oil cooler leaking, first showed up as grayish sludge in the cap. After while, I could see the oil floating in the tank. Little oil won’t hurt anything, for a while. Worst case Coolant shutdown sensors gets gunked up and shuts you down. Just unplug it, jump it if needed, or to turn yellow check engine light off. Just be sure to flush it good with Cascade, DW soap. If it’s contaminated. Could be both, plugged fins, leaking oil cooler. Best to take condenser ( leaving lines hooked up) and cac off, clean and comb all the fins. One problem leads to finding another, previously unnoticed sometimes.

El Vaquero Truck Service its been awhile since I've been there but watch out for this guy he will escort you around...
Elroythekid, wore out and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
If there’s no excess pressure build up in the Coolant tank, noticeable when you remove the cap, and you’re not adding coolant, I’d relax about the head gasket.
Elroythekid Thanks this. -
If it’s not the fins that are plugged up, it’s might be time for a new radiator. Mine started running hot, on the slightest hill. I flushed it with evapo rust from Harbor Freight, I just happened to have a half gallon under the bunk.Had nothing to lose. It worked! I afterwards bought more, and flushed it a few more times, actually left it in for a few days. I’m not suggesting you do that! Lol. I later found they have a product specifically for radiators. Not sure what, if any difference there is, except it’s twice the price. I ran the radiator another 2 yrs. after that. It claims it doesn’t have acid and won’t harm aluminum. Have to be careful using anything with acid. Even some of the coil cleaners have acid in them. Your coolant looks good. Maybe it’s just a little rusty? Radiator started acting up, due to warmer season?
Elroythekid and nikmirbre Thank this. -
One more thing. You can try to clean the radiator fins from the back With a garden hose. High pressure might bend the fins. Have to be very careful with high pressure. Garden hose w/ a gun style sprayer works best. Of course with engine off. Then start the engine, engage the fan, and idle it up to about 1500. Spraying it from the front. The fan sucks the water through the fins. I’ve done this a lot, buying time till I can take the cac and condensor off and clean properly, since most of the debris build up is on the front of the radiator. If the fins are plugged, you may notice the a/c is colder while driving, and doesn’t work as well while parked. I’m leaning towards the inside of radiator is rusty. Just my guess. Make sure fins are clean before replacing it. Hate to see you waste money.
Elroythekid, nikmirbre and John E. Thank this. -

Stewart-Stevenson on I-10 and Ackerman Rd. 1/2 mile outside loop 410. Next door to the Pilot. They are the Detroit shop in San Antonio.
I don’t know any shops down in Laredo other than the dealers north of town. I’d probably have my truck towed the 200 miles north back home. Lol.Rideandrepair, Elroythekid and 062 Thank this.
