Hey guys I know this has been posted a million times but I have tried to do everything and nothing has changed. I had zero issues with the old compressor but it was pushing oil so I wanted to swap it out l. 12.7l Detroit. Truflo 550 haldex reman from napa. Ever since I installed it purge valve will not activate while truck idles. Running down the road it will purge every 10-20 seconds. I tried a new governor. No change. I took apart and cleaned the entire air dryer, purge valve and swapped the air dryer cartridge. (AD9). NO CHANGE. Cleaned the check valve on the air tank. It was fine. No change. Pulled the unloaders out of the air compressor, checked them, cleaned them, oiled them. NO CHANGE. What the hell else could it be? It is my understanding that is basically it. These parts you buy now days are trash I'm really annoyed. Should have kept the one that was blowing oil. It aired up the truck perfect.

Is it an extended purge dryer? Was the dryer that came off it extended and does it have an Econ valve?

usually you go back to the last thing you touched though, unless you changed lines around

I think I figured it out. I think this is the "newer" AD9 and it has an internal check valve system. It is broken. I just took it apart and it is missing pieces. No clue why it decided to play up when I changed the compressor. I am used to the AD9 with the large external check valve. This one has tiny plastic pieces and stuff, not nearly as robust as the old style. Going to see if I can grab a kit somewhere near me and pull it apart again. Wish I would have realized what I was looking at last night when I had the entire thing off the truck.

I was looking at the wrong parts diagram...my check valve seems to be fine. I cleaned it and lubricated it. No changes. I didn't change the air dryer at all. Just took it apart and cleaned it and changed the a cartridge. It is just a standard newer style AD9 which is extremely old school compared to newer trucks these days. All the seals and prints looked fine. It definitely needed cleaned but it didn't seem to change anything.

I forgot one thing in my sleep deprived state. I need to spray everything and check for leaks. That's the last thing before I order a whole new dryer. I can't hear anything but who knows. I always have heard braided lines will leak without you hearing.

Yeah I am skeptical of the compressor itself as well. Guess I should have just ordered something online....or hell even bought a used known good. Any recommendations?

In Michigan I bought from Royal Truck parts, so far so good.
Or just buy one from Freightliner

I hope it is an air leak or something lol. I really don't want to pull that stupid thing off again. Definitely wasn't my favorite job.

Do you have a check valve on the air tank, on the hose that goes to dryer?
It might be back feeding air into the dryer and have it constantly purge.
