That was after insurance too. And that was pretty cheap, like $ 50 week for medical, dental, & vision.

I think it's a suicide mission for someone with a family.
Unless there just is no other way. Making that much probably disqualifies the person for state provided health care too.

    No win.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that most of the white Volvo crew doesn't pay their drivers. Just look at all the post's of drivers that went to work for them only to be screwed out of any and all pay. 0% of nothing is still nothing.

To some extent they are. There's always somebody listening. That doesn't give you or me or anybody else the right to sound off on things we know nothing about.
If some rookie takes your bad advice and causes harm to himself or others you've done something really bad.
Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

The long term issue is you will be hammered by the IRS.
What's so hard to understand about that.
Don't bother with this job and don't try any of these tax gimmicks that some of the drivers on here are telling
You to do. You won't win this battle.

Your not making any more money.
    Your stealing from the government.
Are you gonna have 6 grand come tax time to pay them.
    Or are you gonna lie.

I done this 1099 thing a long time ago. Smiled all the way
To the bank on payday. Worked there about a year.
Lied on my taxes, moved on and never thought about it.

Couple years later after landing a real good paying
Legitimate job, got a letter in the mail from the IRS.
    It was a bill.
Not only did they do my taxes for the year I worked
1099 and sent me the bill.
They went back and went over every year that I worked
Since I entered the workforce and changed all the
Little lies on my previous taxes and sent me one big bill.

They went over my life history and knowing that I was
Single with no dependents change all my taxes accordingly.
The packet was 5 inches thick. I couldn't believe it.
At the end was one big bill. Almost 10 grand.
They were nice enough to let me set up my own
    Payback arrangements.

Moral of the story, don't #### with the IRS.

Also if anything in a bank account that's gone. Tax refunds future checks etc gone gone and gone until paid in full. ANY assets you own potentially taken.

If they pay in cash you'll still have to declare it.

Look, this whole job is a shuck, okay? I know you need to work and I know how desperate you are but don't do this !

When you get busted by the IRS...and you notice I said when and not if, it will take you years to dig yourself out of the hole you're just about to fall into.

If you don't have the self control to set aside tax money for yourself you'll get so far behind that you'll never get out.

What if your employer doesn't pay you? It's pretty well established that most of the Chicago Eastern Euro outfits are money launderers for the Russian Mafia or whatver they're calling it these days. You don't want to be involved with anything even close to that. If they don't pay you what will you do?

Almost everybody here has given you the same advice. It's good advice too. If you don't take it it's your choice.
But is it fair of you to put your family out on a limb? I think not.

If you take the job, as it seems you're determined to, keep us posted on how things turn out. I wish you luck, I really do.
