    I was thinking H2S from an evaporated p-trap. Especially if they are hooked to septic and not a city sewer.

    Your nose becomes rapidly desensitized to the odor so people who work there may think, "Man, you're nuts, I don't smell anything."

    In my younger days maybe 16 ish I got a weekend job at Miller potato, working in the onion house cleaning up waste onion, 1st few days on the job my eyes burned and watered so fricken bad. Then a couple more weekends its was no problem at all, Didn't bother me at all

    Beer and firehouse chili has caused me to clear a room but never sent anyone to the hospital.

    Thats the sulphuric acid eating at your eyes themselves, your body is simply doing what it can to water it away to protect it. Have a eye surgeon take a look into it make sure you don't have issues that will lead to future problems.

    Used to wash cement mixers with acid spraying here at home locally, they did some damage to the eyes that needed work at a later date. Of course the company did not see it as a problem as long that truck is clean.

    I think about mass evacuation and a HazMat team every time I walk into a truckstop restroom.

    I swear.. I don't know what some of y'all eat.
    Courtesy flushes should be a chapter in the driving manual, too.
