Theres a difference between complaining and doing something about. Complaining doesn't get anything done. Calling government and voicing your opinion with people who can actually make changes does do something.
Now, lobbing to fight HOS changes does something. Complaining about it here does nothing. Either way, these rules effect everyone and thus level the playing field if embrace change and addapt. If you dont adapt you business model and just fight change, you could go out of business if you fail. to reverse changes.
Things like super single tires are here weather you like it or not. There is nothing you can do to prevent me from buying them and being more profitable then the guy with dual. If yo choose not to buy them, its up to you, but complaining about tires your not gonna buy anyway doesn't do any good.
As for not being able to drive 80-90 mph anymore, thats a good change. I think most of us can agree its reckless and stupid. Thats a change you shouldn't complain or work against. That change makes us safer. How would you like your wife or kid to be in the car next to the truck going 90 when he blows a steer tire?
Point is, complaining, doesnt do anything. Doing something about what your complaining about does. Get off your donkey insted of just complaining.
My other point, Somethings arnt worth changing or complaining about. The changes are for the better. The old school way was reckless and tarnished our trucking image.

Your right, laws wont prevent everyone from being reckless, but does that mean we shouldnt have them? I think a lot more people would get murdered if it wasn't iligal to kill someone. A lot more people would die if there were no speed limits.
As for the audobaugn and other no limit roads in Europe....first off, trucks dont go super fast, mainly just cars do. The trucks that do go fast are specked from the ground up to do so. (including tires) Have you ever seen the michilan website for Germany? They have some super sweet truck tires designed for high speed. Road condition on highspeed roads in Europe is much better. We have potholes on our 75 mph highways that can wreck your alignment. I dont remember seeing any potholes last time i was on the autobaghn in Germany
Your right about regs not leveling 100%, but without them, it wouldnt even be close. We'll have to agree to disagree on when our reputation went south...but i think we can agree that driving in a way that the general public considers reckless doesn't help our current rep.
Wow, we sure go off tires topic here, 10 vs 18 lol....I wonder if there is a correlation between paper logs/duels and elogs/singles lolSheepDog Thanks this. -
Hi Richter, just one more thing (Columbo), just so you know, I like you, you make a lot of good points, you're not a an idiot and have a good head on your shoulders. I don't advocate anything that went on in the '70's, we paid a price for that activity, but I just like to remind people of how it was. I'm glad there are truckers like you now, we have come a long way, now,,, as for your spelling,,, just kidding, truck em safe, pal.
