Never let a tranny overhaul your transmission.

Can anyone tell me difference between a rto12513 vs rto 14613 speed tranny? I have the old k100 tranny still was thinking slapping it in the w900 till i get the other tranny.

ALSO is there a length difference between the 13 speed eatons? I am tempted of pulling the one from the peterbilt which is only a year or two old to put in the w900

Im without a truck till something is figured out. So trying weigh my options as the one rep isnt much on eta dates...

The new transmission should not be whining real loud as long as the driveline angles are correct. I had a top gear noise I fought for a bit until I learned how to set my leveling valve correctly. I always measured from the bottom of the frame to the welded seam on my axle. Then I read somewhere to measure bottom of frame to floor and the dimple in the end of the axle to the floor and subtract. I had been off by half an inch. That half inch made my transmission quiet in top gear. 2004 w900b

The 12513’s were straight cut gears and could get noisey. The earlier 14613’s were to I think. The later ones I know were helical and quieter. However all the 14613’s I ever had were noisey in the overdrive position of the splitter. The main 3 gears needed replaced in a set too or they were noisey.

Had the fun experience of learning to change wheel seal before being loaded. Learned from going out west you carry parts and tools to do about anything. But from that issue it's the last pig load up there I guess. Which is fn dumb but that's trucking. Pto being installed next week.

Thanks for the transmission pictures and the advice. I look at my bag height this weekend and look at the angle of my 4 driveshafts as well.

Make sure the rear end vents aren't plugged up after sitting for so long or you'll be doing it again.
