Hey everyone and thanks in advance. I bought 92' 4900 with a dt466 for personal use and my electrical problems are about to cause me a stroke.
This is first actual TRUCK and I'm on the low side of the learning curve. I'm not really mechanically inclined for sure. I've changed all the fluids and filters and the truck runs great! ($100 for an air filter ####!) My.problem is electrical. I wish I was making this up but when I got it I had 2 tail lights and one brake light. Changed the fuel filters and had all rear lights. Changed the oil filters now I have nothing in the rear. Headlights.are fine and so are backup lights.
Cleaned the battery disconnect it was a mess and will clean the battery to frame connection tomorrow. How many more ground locations are there? I understand there is a ground some where in the back for the lights at least but I don't know where. Also, gauges at one point they were all good. Now it takes 5 to 10 minutes to get my fuel and voltmeter to come to life. Thank you again.

Welcome, and welcome to the world of older trucks. I don't think the filters have anything to do with it, sounds like a ground problem. Very common on older trucks. Make sure the cab has a ground wire, run a new one just in case, and battery to frame is also a big problem. $100 air filter is the tip of the iceberg, my friend.
