I own a 1997 F. Century and brakes while driving bobtail suddenly became very weak. In order for me to feel the brakes being applied, I have to push the brake pedal almost down to the floor as hard as I could. Once you connect the trailer, everything seems to work OK. Any thoughts?

CK brake adj. on truck ,look at the ft. brake shoes because when b/tail it uses the ft. brakes more?

Usually bobtails don't like to stop. In my time I never worried about it and tried to not drive so fast as to require that kind of braking.
If you are concerned or scared, take it to the shop and complain. They will look into it. -
Brake adjustment, check for an air leak when the brakes are applied.

That's the bobtail proportion valve, it's supposed to do that ,if u can plug the air lines or hook them to a dummy and push in the red button will work some better, most of the driver's just remember to push harder

I would say that makes sense because if they worked as hard loaded as bobtail every time you pressed on the pedal you'd end up on the hood.
