Control your speed at the top of the mountain before you start down the grade. Do not ride your brakes. Don't worry about going too slow. Godspeed!
OldeSkool, Walk Among Us, nextgentrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
I70?. Yeah my 1st time over was during a snow storm, at night, wipers frozen. I had to follow the white line, when I could see it. Couldn't see where to pull over. Now I go by 3 conditions. Night, unfamiliar, bad weather. If all 3 exist, I wait for a change.
nextgentrucker, hope not dumb twucker and PacoTaco Thank this. -
It would depend where in California you are trying to go to. Southern CA, might go south to Interstate 40, northern California, go north to Interstate 80, I would try to avoid going across 70 anyway I could.
Powder Joints, unloader, nextgentrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
No problems with weather the next few days. Put your jakes on towards the end of the tunnel and stay off your brakes as much as possible. Vail Pass is easier than Eisenhower. Watch your speed in Glenwood Canyon.
You’ll have some decent hills in Utah too but you’ll be a pro by then. -
