Do y'all know, if running the stock FLS/FTS numbers with an uprate file is best? I'm asking out of curiosity.

0/0 used to be the Cat default on uprate, now you are supposed to contact them for Full load and torque setting #'s. See a lot of re-rates land at 74 and -19.

I've always been told 0/0 was best or the stock fls/fts on the engine plate. Although, I heard that the newer Cat ET generator will display the fls/fts numbers for the file when setting the personality, but I can't confirm this.

I’m pretty sure 74/-19 was the best set our Cat guy gave us to try in the 5EK’s.

I think we're going to just uprate the engine and stick with the stock FLS/FTS numbers for now.

I asked the wrench bender this morning. Both 5EK’s and the BXS all have 74/-19 set in them. Try both, whatever is in there and then try the other set, or as many good ones as you can get. We tried 3 or 4 different ones and picked the best. Some do make a noticeable improvement.

That power level won’t stress anything.. the truck I drive has a old PP program before epa got involved with PP it put 480 to the wheels when broken in on the dyno . 37/38 psi on a pull with 800 on the pyro . Awesome little motor other than 12 litre jakes .

Older threads with cat gurus did not recommend RV files . Apparently on long pulls they will derate engine due to truck weights working it too hard..

    I had a 2KS C12 in a 385 Pete. Pulling a 7 car trailer, it usually avg'd low 7's mpg.
Good motor & never opened it up. The largest expense I had was replacing the radiator & cac.
But that is not the engines fault. As someone else mentioned, the jake brake just made noise. ;)

High Stepping and Magoo1968 Thank this.
