My heater/ac blower works ok, it would be nice to get it to blow more air. It just seems weak. Couple years ago I went through it all, replaced the blower and also the blower motor resistor at the same time. I just went through it again, its all clean, sealed up good, motor works great and seems powerful when removed and bench tested. However I had it all together and unplugged the resistor and it still worked. What is this resistor for? Trying to get this to blow really good. Alternative squirrel cage fans? motor? It just seems like it needs one more higher speed. Yet all 3 speeds work.

May have figured it out.. Resistor is used to cut power when switched to lower speeds. My connector looks like it got hot and melted some.. so im guessing its bad, and possibly the resistor..... ordered new resistor and connector... will see if it makes a difference.

When resistor is bad all positions are supposed to blow on high, in practice it sometimes burns your speed switch wires, but over time the blower itself can create heat in the wire, also if you never upgraded your box, may be worth it, much better airflow on updated blower and less likely to be rusted out when new (plus you can insulate it before install)
