I have replaced the 6 pin datalink. I have also checked for power( key off) at C and D terminals and there is power . My orange and green data (wires A and B on data link ) is open with key on and it said thats normal. For you 6 pin J1708 users what was the fix ? The cluster cycles when the ignition is on or truck cranks but the cluster goes dead after that . The only gauge working is the fiel and battery gaige . I doubt the cluster is bad because i am not getting data reading to my scan gauge which plugs into my 6 pin diag connector . What was your fix ?

With key on you should have voltage between pins A and E, Voltages should be between 3.00 and 4.5v, and should fluctuate on the thousandths setting of your DVOM. You then check between pin B and E and voltage should be between .500 and 1.5v and should fluctuate as well. If you do not have voltage, you should disconnect the plug at the ECM and check that the twisted pair have continuity. If they are not broken, and have continuity, I would suspect a problem in the ECM.
I just recently fought a similar problem in my 03 Columbia account of internal ECM battery being bad and having to have it replaced. Check out the link below for a full explanation of the process.
