There's 6 wires I was seeing with chafffing like that. Earlier this week, it started to kill the engine. So it got stepped up in seriousness.

The thought of getting towed will do that. The pic makes it apparent what the problem is. As common as it is for that harness to fail I wonder if they have upgraded it?

The new harness does not show any changes.

Will likely repair it instead and reroute it.

That spot is more back by the bend by the starter.

Tore into the entire harness today. There were three major spots that were chaffing on the harness. This is truly a design issue that could also be a major safety issue as there are 8 ga battery wires that go straight to the battery power as well with no fusible links or other safeties in them. Read that as a potential source of fire.

It definitely fixed my gage issues. Everything works just fine now. At best, when empty on the drive home I did today, I would see like 7.3-7.5 mpg on the trucks econometer. Today it was 8.5-8.7 mpg. No, I am not claiming that I was getting 8.5-8.7 mpg. I am comparing a meter reading from one known route and conditions to a known route and condition AFTER a mechanical repair in the truck. I wonder if the data links were feeding dirty signals to the ECM causing performance / economy issues. Guess we'll find out over time.

This is on a 2007 Century with a DD S60 14L EGR engine. Rebel127 did an ECM tune on it in Dec 2012.
