Hi guys,
I have an 09 387 and i have a flasher problem. I wanted to know the part number for the flasher so I decided to pull it out from behind the glove compartment...the truck was off...I got the part number and plugged it back in..
2 days later the hazards and turn signals stopped working. The dealers gave me the flasher that they say is the right one for this truck...part number 44710...
well the flasher I pulled out was 44690 but dealer did not have...
the one that the dealer gave me works fine when the headlights are off....as soon as I turn on the headlights or markers, the hazard lights on the trailer go to a super low dim...the truck hazards are fine...
when I turn the headlights off, the trailer hazards work normal....
The truck lights work fine, just the trailer....also the trailer does not have any led's
any ideas guys?
thanks
2009 Pete 387 electronic flasher

I don't see much difference in the part numbers other than the amp load and lamp load here is what I am showing for differences between the 2 parts specs wise.
http://www.peterbiltparts.com/lighting/flashers/44710gr0/ part they gave you
http://www.peterbiltparts.com/lighting/flashers/44690/ original that came out of your truck. The amp load may have something to do with it although what they replaced your truck with has more amps than what you had before. And with in can events it would appear as though that should be better. For flashing does the the tractor have LEDS or in can events and how many lights are on the turn signal circuit. -
it's possible that you may have developed a bad ground problem also. which just decided to happen at that particular time.
but if your inclined to think it's the flasher relay. find another dealer to look for that same part number. doesn't have to be pete. can be any dealer as they probably use the same part in some of there rigs also.
maybe even look at a auto parts store. might get lucky there also.
there's also the possibility. of an upgraded part. thus the higher amperage explained by 379.Container Hauler Thanks this. -
You guys are right...I am leaning towards a grounding or short issue....the truck lights are fine....just trailer....I think I might swap out the electrical cord from the truck to trailer and work my way back....
thanks guys
