when cool (50 degrees) out, will not crank until you let off starter quickly turn key for second time. when up to operating temp, will start on first try, but takes longer than it should. runs strong after it is cranked. new fuel lines, filters, and filter housing. 2010 western star 4900. good hot batteries, new starter. turns 200 rpms when cranking. check diagnostics, only active code is SPN 1047. has been deleted. have tried ether and it doesnt seem to help. return check valve seems to be working. break fuel filter loose, you can hear fuel run back into tank, shouldnt be losing prime.

How many miles on engine? Could be low compression.

370,000 miles. No blowby or oil consumption.

so you had it on a dyno.
you mean it will not start and run or it will not crank as in engine turning?
I know it sounds stupid to ask but if it doesn’t crank at low temps, that’s a cabling issue or ignition switch issue. It also could be a problem with the ECM power source.
