Maybe because your driving an automatic.

I've tried on and off, but still can't tell what this does.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
The electric brake controller on my F250 has a few codes it throws out...stuff like "trailer disconnected" if you don't have one plugged in. Maybe that's what it does? Simply alerts you to the fact that your pigtail isn't connected?
Only other thing I can think of is that some of these new-fangled trucks check your lights for you...perhaps it'll check your trailer too?
Too much electronics for my taste...Oldironfan and artek Thank this. -
ABS/ATC system detect is truck loaded or bobtail to distribute breaking power.
Tb0n3, Trucking in Tennessee and artek Thank this. -

Yall seen some of the steerin wheel holders we got out there??? Between fidgitin with their headset, handset, Ipad an PlayStation, how else they gonna know when the trailer falls off?
Oxbow, Snailexpress and artek Thank this. -
Mine was on when when I got my truck (17' T680). All it ever did was randomly say trailer disconnected... I guess it monitors the electrical pigtail and would warn if it comes undone... I turned it off...
magoo68, Snailexpress and artek Thank this. -
It monitors pigtail connection and alerts if it is disconnected/intermittent.
Nothing to do with ABS or ATC. Alert to the driver only. As per manual.Isafarmboy, larry2903, artek and 1 other person Thank this.
