GPS Guy Thanks this. -

It is not an odb connection or protocol, it is a can protocol so your car software and adaptor will not work.
-
1. OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics, so by definition it IS a OBD connection.
2. The protocol we are using was never discussed on this thread so you do not have enough information to tell me what I am doing is not going to work.
3. In post #2 in this thread we established that this port is a green 9pin not a 16pin typical OBDII style end like what is used in 2014 and up Mack and Volvo trucks. So why are you RIDGELINE coming in at post #7 and thinking we are still trying to figure this out?
4. At this point we are trying to determine if the 9pin green 500K connection is Jam nut mounted to the panel, or 4 screw mounted to a bracket.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 1, 2016

Bump, Anyone with a 2017 western star that can confirm if the green 9pin port above your left foot area is jam nut mounted or 4 screw mounted? Pictures of each above.

I have a 16 and it's jam nut mounted.
