Intermittent throttle problem, usually during snow, heavy rain, or high moisture.
When it happens, the check engine light comes on, throttle response is delayed and RPMs rise/fall slowly instead of following the pedal normally. The transmission also stops shifting automatically, so I have to shift manually.
Cruise control works perfectly and the truck accelerates normally with cruise control.
I’ve already replaced the accelerator pedal, had the ECM programming/tune adjusted, and had ABS repairs done. The problem still comes back.
Has anyone seen this before? Could it be a wiring, connector, ground, or module issue related to moisture?
Thank you in advance

Are there any codes? First closely inspect the wiring and connections. Run the truck at high idle and wiggle, lightly push/pull on any wiring. If that does not replicate the problem then get a spray bottle of water and spray the wiring and connections to see if you can replicate the issue.BoxCarKidd Thanks this.

You have an intermittent short to ground somewhere in the 5volt supply wire to the throttle pedal sensor supply. You must also check the Kenworth drawings to see if the Throttle pedal 5volt supply is shared with any other devices. Most throttle pedal circuits are dedicated 3 wire twist- Purple- green and blue.
Purple is your supply.
Start by pulling kick panels from below steering column and inspect wiring for all contact point from pedal sensor to firewall. Lots of brackets and braces to rub on. The rub will likely be just thru the insulation or barely touching to ground.Westrada1982ok Thanks this. -
Had the same thing happen to my truck, every time the driver stop to put fuel and wash the windshield the tuck won't accelerate and got the CEL. I was able to duplicate the problem by pouring water on the windshield. Had to remove all cable ties and loom and I found the wire rubbing on the engine. You have to do what Goodysnap said check the wires from the Ecm to the Tps sensor.
Goodysnap and Westrada1982ok Thank this.
