Hello everyone, long story short. I ran out of fuel only 10 feet away from fuel pump (I know how unlucky) in my 2020 isx 565 cummins with 300k KMS about 6 months ago, another trucker pulled me pull chain. Fueled up but HAD TO use started fluid to crank it up cuz it wouldn't crank up ( I KNOW ITS BAD FOR THESE ENGINES). So very next day Right after that first crank in morning engine would shut down after 3 secs then I'd start it up again and it'd run fine all day, 2 months of that and that progressed to lot of rounds to start up in mornin but still ran fine all day. Finally took it to Peterbilt dealer. with many days of diagnosis going thru tanks, fuel lines etc they found debris in fuel pump. Cleaned it all out, had to change a valve (can't recall which valve around pump) and no problems after that. My question to you folks is would that debris enter the engine and do long term damage? Do I need to worry about it being screwed up and expect lots less life out of it? Or it wouldn't have any effect on it? I don't want to run into serious problems later on having to spend thousands of thousands of dollars. Please advice.
