For the first time since I've been driving this truck it wouldn't accelerate when I hit the pedal and then a little while later it accelerated but it was stuck in 9th gear.
I pulled over and removed the transmission fluid reservoir cap and I did not see any fluid and smoke was coming out of the hole.
When I resumed driving a little while later the truck accelerated and the gears shifted normally.
Am I low on transmission fluid? There is no dipstick on the cap I did not see any fluid leaks on my pre trip. Thx

how many miles on the transmission box? Try replacing the tranny fluid first since its the least expensive and most common cause.

Most of these automatics are just automated manuals. Changing the oil isn't going to do much, it's not like they're a true automatic with clutches, bands and a torque converter.

Check your alternator for funky ‘charge spikes’ that can raise all sorts of havoc with auto-shift transmissions.

I have approx 362k miles on the truck and I am a company driver. I haven't had a repeat of the issue so I believe that it was just an electronic glitch as someone previously mentioned.
