Can anyone tell me where this thing is? This is the first truck I've ever had where it does not seem to have one. I thought they were required by DOT. I guess not. What am I missing here? I've got a full digital dash but no Johnson bar. I'm confused.

Do you have the little paddle thing, down by your right knee? PACCAR started offering that as a trailer brake. If you don’t have that, the truck doesn’t have one.

    Some trucks don't have them.

Not required by DOT, more and more ‘bean counters’ are eliminating them when spec’ing a truck.

ducnut, drivingmissdaisy and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Did you buy this truck? If so, you didn’t do your due diligence.
If you are a company driver, either grin and bear it, or tell the company you will ‘pass’ on this truck, and wait for a ‘better’ truck.

No it's not my truck its a company truck. And I don't have any kind of paddle thing by my knee. I guess this truck doesn't have one. I used to use it during my pre trip to check trailer brakes.

My buddy cut a 2”X2” board, making a prop he wedges between his brake pedal and seat, to check brakes.

I have the paddle thing and bought a spring-loaded clamp to hold it pinched, when I pre-trip. I’m leaving out in a few hours and will grab a pic and post it up.

Tell the company you are ‘turning down their assignment of this truck to you’ give to the next guy on the board I’ll take his truck instead. I turned down lots of trucks over the years when I was a driver.

This is that paddle for a trailer brake.
