Hey everyone, I’m 21 and located in Connecticut. I’m trying to get into hotshot trucking and I’m looking for an owner-operator or small company willing to train someone who is serious about learning the business.
I currently work around trucks and have experience moving semis and box trucks around a yard and backing car trailers. I’m willing to ride along, learn the business, and put in the work. I’m not expecting someone to hand me a truck with no experience — I’m looking for someone willing to give me an opportunity to learn and eventually become a dependable driver.
I was recently referred to an owner-operator through someone I know, and he’s currently checking with his insurance because of my age. So I’m trying to network with other operators in CT/NY/MA/New England who might need a driver or trainee.
If anybody knows an owner-operator, fleet owner, or small company looking for someone willing to learn, I’d really appreciate a message. I’m serious about getting into this.
Thanks.

@J0y
Welcome to the forum, best of luck to you and your entire family! -
One possible suggestion:
Go to a company as a dockworker that also has in house training as a truck driver. Several companies that I can think of would be Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Seven Up, along with various other beverage companies. It might be your ticket to other truck driving jobs as OTR or regional. -
Goodluck, majority of insurance companies won’t even look at you until you reach the age of 23.
russellkanning and EastCoastResident Thank this.
