The mechanic who has my truck said he sees oil in my fuel tank and wants to pull the head but I just got it back from peterbilt and they said my motor is within spec minus injector cups.

    motor is a 98 1lw 3406e

do you have to remove the head to replace the injector cup?

Never heard oil in fuel seeing fuel is an oil.

no, you don’t pull the head.

here, this is the best video how to change the injector cups on a 3406.

    sorry it is in Spanish.

Not on that CAT. Did the fuel analysis come back as oil, or combustion chamber gasses?

Combustion chamber gasses are often mistaken as oil because it turns the fuel black. Also, many misdiagnose combustion chamber gasses as injector o-ring or injector cup failure, when it's actually an injector not sealing off after injection, allowing gasses into the fuel.

Oil analysis was showing it was good but this was 5k miles ago. I was thinking that as well. It does sputter sometimes if I blurt the throttle and it’ll throw some white smoke then clears up

I haven’t either. I think he doesn’t know much about motors or he’s trying to get over on me because he’s adamant about having to pull the head and replace or machine

Thank you I figured you don’t have to remove the head. He keeps telling me he has to remove it
