Interesting, I never mentioned the time it takes. It’s because of the weight distribution to me. On a west coast I never had to worry about it with the east coast if you shim wrong your screwed.

cke, Oxbow and SAR Thank this.

Not all trailers are that way, mine only had two axles and the front one is a lift so the only way to split it is to block at the rear.

So, after fretting about this for far too long we finally managed to haul our 345 on our trailer.
Idaho rates their highways by color for overweight permits. Black is max, then purple, then blue, etc.

Fully dressed hoe weighs 117k. CW weighs 18k, bucket weighs 5600 lbs.

My annual permit allows us to haul our 345 less counterweight on black and purple highways. My job this summer required us to travel on a blue route. Even after removing the bucket I still lack 4000 lbs. of being able to haul on a blue route.

I pondered renting another trailer again or just hiring it hauled but decided to apply for a single trip and see what they say. It took a few days for the state to complete their survey, but they approved my guess as to what the axles would weigh.

Missed by a few hundred pounds on the trailer, but all is well and the old lowboy handled it great. Permit cost $90.

cke, LoneCowboy, old iron and 3 others Thank this.
