    14 liter det when it warms up starts to surge from 900 1300 rpm dealer says wiring harness no codes new pedal all sensors replaced egr replaced only thing left turbo ? got new harness from det wrong one. nuts. 09 freightlnr

    Had something similar, is it doing while not under load? Say cursing the parking lot at around 900 rpm in 2nd 3rd gear?

    09 Freightliner is 10 years old. The ecm may be dying. The batteries are rated for 10 years.

    Clean and or replace all Grounds fpr batteries and engine. Check ground stud welded in frame.

    What I replaced was throttle valve, it fixed the issue for about 2 months then restarted again. Hope the info helps you track it down.

    If your having a battery issue in the ecm, it will give a code 31 I believe. Someone above stated the batteries are good for 10 years? I disagree. There are thousands of ecms still running on detroits well over 10 years with original batteries. Diagnose first, don't throw parts at it. Which wiring harness did the dealer suggest you change?
