So I am looking to "possibly" buy this truck. - 9 speed manual with a Cummins ISX15 450HP. The truck has about 265K miles on it. Should I be concerned with that 9 speed transmission? Thanks.

Personally I would never choose a 9 speed with a 15L anything. Depending on the gear ratio to get good mileage on the top end......the low side is just not low enough with a load. Always feels like you have to slip the clutch to get er rolling.
10 speed minimum I say. If the 9 is a killer deal that's proly why? Convertable to a 13 would be your best chance at a good deal?mile marker 27 and HoneyBadger67 Thank this. -
You can convert it to a 13 easy enough.
Depending on what you plan on doing with it. If it's your first truck and the price is right, just baby it until you get some money coming in.Judge and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
What rear end ratio?

Ain't that how tmc specs there fleet.?
& I'll take a 9 over a 10 anyday of the week. My truck can get rolling in 2nd or 3rd with no throttle 90% of time unless I'm on a grade.. The 9 should have a deeper overdrive @.73 vs .74 for most 10's..baha, cke, Dave1837 and 1 other person Thank this. -
cke and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

But..., don't you think an isx, even fleet spec is around 1650tq..? Its gotta have more tq at idle vs. my 1250tq detroit.. Right..?
The thing should get rolling fine, even if he has to use 1st. And if all else fails, put'er in the granny.cke Thanks this. -
