96 vs 102

    96 vs 102 or are 96 a thing of the past seems all new trailers are 102

    Kinda depends on what your gonna be hauling, but 102 is mostly standard these days.

    There's a few guys out there pulling 96 trailers though.

    Depends what you haul.
    If you got lots of rebar, coils, palletized cement (heavy loads that take little volume) you'd be fine with a 42/45x 96.

    If you're riding a load board wave and taking whatever you can get: 48x102 would be a good baseline.

    I don’t ever remember anybody requiring a 102.

    102’s make finger docks a bit trickier, especially if it pulls crooked.

    And for anyone familiar with Baltimore, 102’s are forbidden from the Harbor Tunnel.

    Ran both doing steel. Prefer the 102. Easier with wider loads like monster suicide coils or flat plate.

    102 is pretty much standard. I'd stick with that for greater flexibility in loading.

    I really don't see much disadvantage to going with 102". One of these days, you'll get a 104" load, and have to either refuse or buy a overwidth permit.
