First I will say I am new to this board, I have been off the Road for roughly 9 years. Since then I have been employed as an automotive Tech for 5 years and have been self employed with construction the past 4 years. Well the construction is Not doing well here and I am forced to once again explore my options.
I have been searching the forum and the WWW for trucking companies and or schools. I have come to the conclusion that even though I once was running reginal my experience no longer counts, so as you all are already aware I will have to go thru a "school", My liceanse is still current with a clean driving record.
I am looking for opinions of company sponsored cdl training, I am currently considering going thru the driver solution program with attending the C1 in Springfield, Currently my date to start is Sept. 5th. I am still waiting for the Pre Hire from USA Truck to go thru sup[pose to find out tommorow.
If I said I wasnt concerned about USA Truck then I would be Lying, I have read alot of post from disgruntled drivers about them. I keep trying to tell my self the ones that complain are the same ones that I remember flooding the air waves with constant bickering, It seems to me that as long as you do your job and dont refuse every load that is thrown your way then a person should be able to get the miles. I am aware that alot of things have changed over the years so enlighten me please.
I am Not a speed demon, but I would like to atleast be able to run the speed limit on the interstates, so what companies should I be looking at? I would also prefer to run flatbed, to try to keep my self in shape. Home time is what it is. I dont expect to start out with a company that I am home every day or even every weekend for the first year, But I do have 2 kids that I would still like to be a father to.
Any help would be appreciated
A little help Please
