As far as politics go, all sides lie to further their agenda. All sides use the 30 second soundbite to their advantage. Liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, tea party, libertarian, socialist, communist, Marxist....WTFE.....it is all baloney. The only good govt is no govt. People should just be left alone, to live Thor life, keep their money, and believe what they want to believe. Govt is just about power and control. No one in govt gives a hoot about you or me. Libs spew entitlement and redistribution to create a class warfare. Conservatives spew their crap to create a different type of class warfare. And its all in their attempts to control the masses. And from the hate and discontent displayed so much everywhere, it looks like they are all being pretty successful at it.

 

If you have no debts and $1.87 in the bank you are wealthier than 40% of Americans. Tough holidays are a good opportunity to refocus your life. In 1999, I was laid off from a HVAC co. due to work slowdown, 2 weeks before Christmas. I had a mortgage, car payment, CC bills etc etc. I resolved 2000 was going to be my year, went out and worked 3 jobs to pay the bills until I could get a job as a firefighter. Do what you have to do, but don't stay in a bad situation. There's ALWAYS options. Best wishes! Make 2012 your B!CH !

Since you guys have wandered off the topic already, I might as well put my 2 cents in.

No government is a bad solution. Government's purpose is to protect our constitutional rights...we must have some sort of body to keep law - without law, everything goes, and if you want to look back on 5000+ years of human civilization, we're almost no better than we were back then. We still go to war, we still rape, steal, murder, we're still human, we haven't really changed. To think that no government is a solution is to regress our entire society back into a state of conflict. Money would lose its value in such a society.

Although I am a supporter of free market capitalism, every system can be abused, and as long as humans are imperfect, there will need to be systems in place to control the abuse and to punish law-breakers so that society can continue to function.

This is governments job.
