What constitutes a "reportable" is highly dependent on the company. Technically, only an accident that results in death or injury, or requires a vehicle to be towed away is truly "reportable". What your company will hold against you as a matter of policy is totally up to them. They can be, and often are, much stricter than the law. A blown tire shouldn't be, unless it resulted from hitting something. A scuffed trailer also seems unlikely, but doing a thorough pre trip when you hook up to new equipment should uncover that. The telematics stuff...honestly I don't know what to say about that. My company either doesn't use it, or more likely, I suspect they do, but it's reviewed by someone with actual driving experience, who knows what is a big deal and what isn't, before they decide they need to talk to the driver.
A pivotal point in my life I need answers and opinions.

I'm not worried about my health being an issue as much as the nit picking in the industry that would get me fired. The tanker taillight I understand but the litteral scuff on a trailer that looked as if it should be junked baffled me. I'm in western PA with a MEC till March 2028. BTW SNI.Last edited: Jul 21, 2026
Chinatown Thanks this. -
You mentioned the health issues, is why I commented. Nothing to worry about on those.
The couple of incidents with the scuffed trailers is nothing to worry about either. You weren't fired, so no reason to bring up the subject. -
The old company says you're re-hirable, so are you considering going back there?

Yes and that's my biggest concern. I felt the OTR time with a trainer was useless. I was away for 5 days and drove 3 days each 8 hours. I was going OTR eastern 37 and the trainer was on a dedicated and at his direction we parked the truck in fast food lots and he would go home as I stayed in the truck with nowhere to even go to the can. Took leaks in bottles but luckily didn't have to do anything else. The other days were spent in my hotel room. I got nothing out of it and thought this was just the way it is and couldn't believe they flew me from PA to TX for this. I just figured okay.....

What is MEC.?
If Schneider will re-hire you, then go there and try to stay for 12 months. After that you'll have dozens of companies to choose from.

I am. But, I need more instruction than others when it comes to backing and close quarters. Afterall I was avoiding backing during my reportables. It just seems that during training they'll say it's okay to ask for more practice and time but when you allude to it they seem not too happy about it. I know they're going to requre a refresher but I was thinking of doing a self funded refresher before their refresher to get even more practice.

My Medical Examaners certificate. I'm strongly leaning on going back with them.Chinatown Thanks this.

Well, I can see the tanker taillight but the scuff at my OC just let all the motivation out of me. I know many people here have understated damage to maintain reputations but I truly mean this was a scuff on a beat trailer. It felt like they were just so eager to throw another strike at my record lasting 7 years. IDK???
