Just to be safe I don't go on roads that have a "No Truck" sign even when it is mainly due to tight curves or steep grades which are not a problem for bobtails. So do "No Truck" signs apply to bobtails too? The times I did go on roads with a No Truck sign are in the south that I am familiar with in non-residential areas while bobtailing. The police on the side of the road dont even look in my direction so not sure if it is allowed or not. One could argue that the No Truck symbol has a trailer attached which may not apply to a bobtail.
A question never answered about Bobtailing on No Truck roads

No trucks means no trucks and I can tell you from practical experience that bob tail or not, you can get a ticket with one of them barney fifes.
FearTheCorn, skellr, brian991219 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Depends on if the cop is in a bad mood or not. I would venture to say 'no trucks' means anything over a one ton.
ExOTR Thanks this. -

No truck signs usually have a GVW along with it. Say 5 ton. Bobtail is still rated at 80000 lbs (standard class 8). Now a local cop may not know better. But you can get a ticket for it.

An empty bobtail is still going to be 10500-11500 pounds on the steer axle. Many no truck routes are weight limited to the point you'd be several thousand pounds overweight on the steers.
Dye Guardian and Bakari742 Thank this.
