Might have to consider applying at Abilene again. I put in an app about two months ago but never heard anything.

 

This is not a company where you just put in your app and they call you. You have to call them. Multiple times in order to get a live person. Don't just leave a message and wait.

 

Thanks. I've been watching youtube videos of automatic transmissions just to get a general idea about them. Seem really simple and will make an inexperienced driver like myself much more calm when starting out. From what I've seen, there are still times when you need to flip it over to manual and shift sometimes, but I'm sure I'll learn about those occasions with my trainer.

One last question I forgot to ask my recruiter, when at the hotel in Richmond VA for orientation, do they room you with another person? Or do you get your own room?

 

I actually had to email them to get them to call me. I put in my application this past Monday, and tried calling on Tuesday and Wednesday, about 7 times total, with 2 left voicemails. Eventually Wednesday afternoon I emailed them and got a call back in about an hour from my recruiter ( Trish ). Apparently, there's only like 2 recruiters there.

 

The freightliners have manual mode disabled, well mine does. You can still change gears but the computer will overide your selection if it doesn't like it...or just refuse your request and beep at you.

You get your own room at a very nice La Quinta. Free breakfast buffet, HBO, mini fridge, big bed etc. You won't want to leave to get in a truck.

 

There was only one recruiter I applied. Office/Adminitrative staff is very light.

 

Well I am a bit embarrassed because I was scheduled last year but cancelled but I'll have to give them a call. I think they said because I am in Oregon I'd get little hometime.

 

Lordy mercy! Doesn't anyone work on the weekends? There are so many trucks here on the yard it looks like over half of the dang fleet. Not an empty spot around.
