I posted some days ago that I was worried that I would get fired for a mirror a guy hit on my truck. I was being routed back to the terminal to get it fixed then I told my company I had to go home first for an emergency. Another job accepted me and scheduled me for orientation. I’m going to tell my current company that I am resigning. I don’t want them to put on my DAC that they fired me or something. To avoid that, should I wait until after orientation at my new job to tell my current job I quit? Let’s say my current company say they fired me or I abandoned the truck even though it’s at a company drop yard. How long does that take to show up?
Accepted a new job. Should I quit my current 1 after orientation

It's hard to answer/assess your query accurately -- without knowing who the "new" carrier is...that has extended you an offer.
Crap carriers are a dime a dozen -- whereas the truly good fleets are fairly few & far between.
The "new" carrier may -- or may not -- be worth the effort of jumping ship.
Also -- how long have you been with your current employer? Leaving too soon may have a real negative impact on your future job prospects.
I'm seeing more job ads with "two years consistent work history preferred"....or similar lingo.

You're really supposed to quit before you go to a new job. Take care of your business at your current job, take the truck where they want it at, and move forward.

Drop yards are kind of a gray area when it comes to returning the truck. On the one hand, it is company property, assuming they're not leasing parking spots at another company's yard, and it sounds like they told you to leave it there while you went home. On the other hand, it's not a terminal, and they only gave you permission to leave it there because they thought you were coming back.
If you had just left it at a terminal with a shop, there wouldn't be an issue. They could inspect it, make any repairs it might need, and then reassign it. Now, assuming you leave it where it is, they probably have to send someone to rescue it. They could be nice and let it go, or they could be not so nice and put it on your record as abandonment.bryan21384, nextgentrucker, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Given your current situation -- & the current overall CDL job market -- I would not recommend you leave your current job for another one at Prime, unless:
...the job offer with Prime is an iron-clad, no exceptions or excuses...."we really do need you"...for their TANKER fleet.
Otherwise, pass.
If you have been no real trouble for your current carrier for a while -- & all you have now is a damaged mirror (that is truly someone else's fault) -- it's really unlikely they would fire you -- just for that.
Suggestion: ride the current situation out. Especially if the mirror problem is your only real concern with them.
