Advice for Flatbed Company that will train me to succeed.

I would love to, however being other posts mention where I work and a few people including the trainer I requested to be replaced check here often. Until I’m sure I’m headed to less dead pastures I’ll keep it very vague, actually you know what nobody can be prevented from the situation if nobody knows of it can they?

The training system and how it is handled as it stands currently is to me flawed, what boggles me is they have people out and about right now from the same trainer, but I mentioned some things said trainer makes me do that the safety guy sighed and said this explains a lot and he now has to send fleet messages out.

Long story short, put my foot down, stood up for myself and my training, explained as they have told me many times was available that I do not feel the things I need to be learning are being taught to me, even demonstrated from my folder where trainer grades me on certain things that I’m not even doing them each run or have even done them at all in the 4 weeks of training.

Things started to not add up when a few times I was called by I guess people in dispatch, when I haven’t even been introduced yet or told I would be dealing with them until I pass my road test and clear to go solo, and they were asking me questions I had no idea what they were even referring to nor did I encounter or was instructed how to handle their requests.

Logs are not being verified, it’s a single verbal explanation and yea on your way and yes, their school briefly through a video touched on logs but was pretty much in a situation where I was driving and I set myself to on duty thinking hey it’ll turn to driving once I pass 5mph. 1.5 hours down the road I briefly look and it says on duty still, trainer was dead asleep and yea I should have checked if I was set to driver but I had to call them for instructions on what to do and they told me with the added warning of needs to happen asap or dot violation. We finally got it settled and if we’d been pulled yea we’d have been put out of service because trainer’s hours were 3 hours negative somehow.

I’ve been in training 4 weeks, there has been one or two massive red flags every week, I know it’s a tough gig but they said I’m with their top guy every time things happened to reassure me.

Im sure for those who like to cut corners or are oblivious to what is not being explained this method of training is wonderful. For me it is not I am trying to restart my career and do something worthwhile.

So I made everything known I said hey I don’t want conflict I don’t want him in trouble or anything I just need another trainer to catch me up on things because I’m not where I need to be, thought everything was cool. Safety asks if I’d be willing to do one last run because it’s for their number 1 customer and we’ve already scheduled everyone else, I think he realized how I was looking at him before I started to ask him to explain why as a company you are placing freight from your number one customer into the hands of a training situation but I simply said no, he said he had to go talk to dispatch and walked away.

There’s so much more I’m leaving out, like so much more from the accident on week 2, to standing guard after a tire blowout so they could nap the list goes on and on. I hope this is not how things are everywhere but if they are like just open my eyes to them, I hate surprises at this point in my life.

Luckily the girlfriend mentioned speaking to the HR lady because she heard it all and she just told me she was shocked.

The absolute best example is my training folder has 15 days worth of pre trips logged as average, in school and to take the exam we had to verbalize and generally point to the area, I haven’t done a pre trip since I passed my exam, got 15 days logged though.

 

Cypress doesn’t hire out of Indiana, Finally got a hold of Maverick, trans system seemed promising but now I cannot even get my recruiter back on the phone.

I have an offer for Roehl flatbed right now, they want 40k miles on contract though but it’s waiting, most places want my sleep study done before they even bother.
