Very good article. Very few people realize how much can be gained by directing airflow around an object. I learned a lot about aero playing with a 10' styrofoam sailboat (Kool cigarette display). With very little sail area, it would fly across the water when properly 'trimmed'. Experimented by putting crochet thread thru the sail & learned about boundary layers. It was a suprise to see a piece of thread floating about 2" from the surface of the sail when you thought it would be flat against it. If you want to read something interesting, google golf ball dimples.
BTW, after 2 afternoons of playing around I could sail that little boat any where I wanted to go.
