Earl Carter Hamlet NC | FBI arrests NC man known as 'AK Guru' who is accused of selling hundreds of machine guns | abc11.com
I wonder what kind of knockoffs that he has been selling!
Anyone worth their weight in salt knows that the real deal AKs won’t be cut up-they’re too valuable and actually work right with proper maintenance!

They're called parts kits and can be built to be just as good as new. Used to be you could get them really cheap.

They have to cut up "real deal" AK's before importing the parts. Not sure what's in a parts kit nowadays. 90's, it would be a torch cut receiver with all parts, minus full auto parts.
Those parts were available elsewhere, legally. But posession of full auto parts and a rifle, constitutes a machine gun per ATF.
You could by all the parts, receiver flats, and the tools to mark and drill happy holes, legally.
AK's always run. That's the beauty of them. Not a precision weapon by any means, but they did not need regular maintenance.
I was always a fan of Bulgarian and Russian AK's. US made AK's are now available and very nice.
Full auto...Meh
It's fun, but no practical use for it for the most part.rollin coal Thanks this. -
I've got several but no kit guns. My personal favorite is a Norinco MAK 90 that I bought about 10 years ago brand new in the box unfired. It was one from the Clinton years with the weird sporter stock that I ditched for typical AK furniture which I think is technically illegal but oh well. The first thing I did when I got it was toss the box in the trash and shoot it lol. I like the Chinese ones they've always got a nice bluing and I think they make the best ones.
