I wonder how they new it was Uranium... Maybe it was "properly labeled"?

Was it refined or some ore they found in an abandoned mine? I can't imaging K-9 sniffing that out when "it's just dirt from wherever" would do.

 

Not in Florida!!!!!!! Finally. I would love to know the thought process behind wanting to procure uranium and having a rattle snake? You hoping for some Spiderman #### but with a snake?

 

I would imagine forged papers pretending to be a chemical wholesaler might have gotten him that Uranium.

The problem is if you have two coffee cans worth of Uranium in a very specific percentage of enrichment and processing you have a Hiroshima style atomic bomb.

 

Again it's not clear. Was it Uranium 239 or 235.
the critical mass of pure uranium-235 is 52 kg . For uranium-239 it's 11kg .

 

Unless it was incorperated into a detonation device the uranium would be harmless... Aside from radiation in the near proximity.

The uranium for the 2 bombs dropped on Japan was transported in buckets that were secured with bolts to the deck of an officers cabin aboard the USS Indianapolis... While a fake cargo container was under armed guard in the ships cargo hold.

 

would be harmless aside from radiation if it is less than critical mass. the detonating device is some mechanism/small explosion that press two pieces of uranium each other to reach the critical mass. then chain reaction starts.

 

basic atomic bomb. Only enough uranium is hard to find.. Authorities must find out where he got uranium.

You can buy uranium ore easily, or scavenge nuclear materials from medical devices/machinery.
X-ray machines will absolutely mess you up tho. That stuff is HOT
