I pray that all Owner Operators reads this and take this warning seriously especially if you live in NC or SC. God Knows I wish someone had warned me.

I had the great misfortune of hiring an older driver named Joe and it was the worse mistake of my life! Honestly, I can't blame anybody but myself for feeling sorry for him. He came across as a Christian who was down on his luck, so I tried to help him out. I leased my truck onto Divinity Transportation and allowed him to drive it for me. He lied to me about where he lived by giving me the right street address, wrong city and state and the right zip code. The post office forwarded to mail to him based on the zip. I didn't figure that out until a week before I fired him.

When I hired him, I told him not to make any physical changes to my truck. He insured me he wouldn't. Within the first week, he secretly installed an inverter into my truck that blew my batteries and alternator which costed me a little over $1500. After I fixed that he then removed my hood mirror, drilled a hole in my floor so you can see the ground, ripped down cabinetry to insert a 26" TV and totally disrespected my wishes the entire time he drove for me. He constantly over pumped fuel to the point I made no money due to his damages and fuel consumption. He was totally disrespectful to the company's dispatchers, payroll employees, and pretty much anybody that crossed his path causing them to terminate my contract in less than 2 months due to his misconduct.

After they terminated my contract, I had no choice but to let him go, and trust me at this point, I was glad to do so. This man became infuriated and attempted to file a police report against me and the company for GOD KNOWS WHAT?!! After no attorney would touch his case due to no validity of his stores, he has continued to harass the company and has put false statements all over the internet about them that are totally untrue attaching my name to them. It has been one big nightmare that doesn't seem to end. If he tries to coerce you into hiring him by pretending to be a Christian, DO NOT HIRE HIM...he will destroy your life, and somehow, you'll end up in court because he is sue happy. IF anyone knows how I can legally make his harassment stop, feel free to let me know.

I thank God for this new CSA because guys like this will never drive a truck again and won't be able to hurt anybody else in the future.

    I feel your pain.

I had a driver almost like that. My repair bills for his first trip were in excess of $10,000. I gave him a chance since anyone could have a bad day. What a mistake that was. On the way to Florida he caused over $12,000 in damages. When he came home he backed inot a brand new Pterebuilt and my repair bill was almost $8,000. I fired him right there and then. And this is a driver with 35 years of experiance.

there is usually a very good reason why someone that age "is down on his luck" , luck has got nothing to do with it,, they are just dumb rectums and addicts.

Sometimes it is better to work with a rookie. the ole veterans have, old my way habits, that no one can change. most newbies, will at least listen to what you say, they don't have the, this is the way I done it when I had my truck attitude.

When people pull that Christian crap, thats when I usually take a few steps back and watch out for the knife!

It's usually those types that are the first to stab you in the back.

You never have to look far to find a prick. They come in all varieties and can be disguised as a newb, an old timer, a dispatcher, an o/o, a cop, a company owner etc. :biggrin_25525:

Not by me. I worked for a few "Believing Chrisitians" in my time, and regretted it every-######-time!
