    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say Hi and thank you all for having this forum. I live in Maryland, about 25 minutes outside Baltimore. I was wondering if anyone had attended any truck driving training in the Baltimore area. That's all I'm finding in Maryland at this time. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank You

LadyViking - check your e-mail. I sent you a link that might help, but didn't know if it would be OK to post it here. -Dave

I went to All-State Careers in Baltimore. Their program is 24 weeks, 10 classroom and 14 in the yard with the trucks. It runs just short of $10,000. The reason it is so lengthy is to fit the criteria for federal grants and student loans to help people to get financing for the program.
You get out of it what you put into it. If you study and show up regularly and on time you will do well.
The most valuable thing to learn is something that, though you will use it every day, and possibly many times during the day it is not a requirement to graduate.
Backing between trailers into docks. It is available but not on the test.
Parallel Parking? WTF! How often does that skill come in handy?
Concentrate on learning how to set yourself up and back into a space between trailers and you will learn the one valuable skill you will need daily and regularly.
The instructors for the most part are very good and if you want to learn, they will go out of their way to teach you.
If you need to support yourself while in school, the long program is the way to go. If you are on unemployment or some kind of government funding, you would do well to go to a 4 or 5 week license mill. Either way you will have to go out with a trainer for 4 to 8 weeks at which ever company hires you.
I hope this post helps you.

Redhead I almost attended all-state but that 10g price tag scared me away. I then in turn went to smith and Solomon, and had an excellent yard instructor named Don, taught us that backing the container into a dock. You are right that is a value able skill
