This week I was issued a 2025 Cascadia Condo, DD15 with a 6 speed Allison automatic with a mere 29 miles on the clock.

I've had to adjust my driving style a bit.. I'm used to just flooring it when taking off with my old truck. The Allison is a total dog if you try that loaded. I was told to use the cruise to get going with it and that has helped. Come to find out the Allison adjusts when it shifts based on where the throttle is.

One issue I'm having is the idle RPMs. The truck idles normally at 600 but sometimes seemingly at random it will bump up to 700. That makes docking when empty interesting to say the least. It wants to go and go now! :biggrin_1square3:

Anyone have this issue with the idle?

The last Freightshaker I had was a 2015 & at times, yeah, it just banged like hell into the dock. I finally just said... If that's how they want it to work, that's fine with me. I'm so thankful that my current company don't fool with Freightshakers.

Dock slamming is a concern. No one wants to be 'that guy'. With the Allison I could slam a dock very hard without touching the throttle, especially at 700 rpms.

Any truck with an Allison in it that I've driven has been smoother than any AMT could ever hope to be at low speed.

Yes, it is quite smooth. Smooth is the exact term I used to described it to my wife. At 600 rpms I can simply let off the brake and easily maneuver it into a dock, but at 700 rpms it's like I've had one too many cups of coffee in the morning..:biggrin_2551:

Don't get me wrong, I like the Allison. It's just an adjustment. Descending is another issue. I regularly descended Flat Top without using the service brakes, jake alone. The first time with the Allison was constant braking. Jake-braking with the Allison is all together different than an automated 12 speed.

8000+ miles now with no issues other than the bunk heater not working. Got to admit I love the Allison. That whirling sound it makes is pretty cool.

I've figured out how to descend comfortably now, just have to use manually shifting.
